Starting in a different career field
Off of disability and into a new career in animation
By Laura Jeanne Hammond, 8/06/09
Gregory Knight from Robinson, Ill., wanted to return to work and get off disability. But he also needed a new line of work. So he turned to an online animation program through Anthem College.
He earned an associate degree in graphic design and animation with a GPA of 3.89—and is about to start a bachelor’s degree in animation.
“The coursework was very fast-paced, so I had to budget my time carefully,” Knight says.
Knight was also concerned about financing his college education. He recommends doing thorough research using education fairs and Web sites. He also recommends starting to research financial aid as soon as possible.
“The sooner you start, the more chances you have for additional financing,” he says. “Budget your time and do your best. If you decide to further your schooling, a good GPA can also get you extra money for school.”
